Tips and Hints-
Farmers call them kamikaze birds for a reason, they are easily startled and already prone to injuring or otherwise hurting or unfortunately killing themselves. When startled quail can suddenly hurtle themselves straight upwards of 6', this is called 'flushing'. Cages either need to be 12"/1'-6', any cage between those sizes can cause them to break their necks or become otherwise injured when engaging in that behavior. When cages are 12"(1'), they can't reach sufficient velocity to hurt themselves. You can also line the tops with soft foam and spray it with something they hate the taste of, (like the, "No Pickn" poultry spray) or cover it with fabric to prevent them from picking at and eating the material. (I'm in the process of moving mine to my greenhouse).
They are delicate birds and are not smart. Don't expect much from them and let yourself be surprised if you get a smart cookie. And let that one teach the others (they're especially terrible with stairs and some of them might just not understand them at all. So if you have them in a leveled or tiered cage, keep in mind you may have to put food and water on every single level, because some of them are just that unobservant to the point, instead of searching the entire enclosure they will just starve or dehydrate to death.
(I do plan to try and create a hardier, more docile, celadon jumbo line.)
