For your consideration: “No Ought About It”, a 2017 9y/o Thoroughbred bay gelding standing approx 16.1hh. Our family calls him Buster.
He is registered with the Jockey Club, but never raced. His dam “Ought” was a bay with 22 starts (winner), and his sire “Bonavento” was a chesnut with 13 starts (winner).
We’ve had Buster almost three years now. He has a friendly personality and bonded almost instantly with my husband and our teenage son. It took him longer with me, but I guess I had to earn it. Now he is one of the first to greet us when we enter the pasture.
Buster has a big motor and needs a home where he will have a regular job. He does best with consistency and thrives with a routine. Unfortunately my job situation changed last summer and I am on the road more than I am home. With other horses to care for, I simply don’t have enough hours in the week to keep him working the way he needs. The first year we owned him he was boarded at a local ranch where I took weekly lessons, and he did very well with consistent riding and work.
Buster is an easy keeper. He is up-to-date on vaccinations, and I’ve had his teeth floated every fall (zero areas of concern). He has received regular farrier care. When I was boarding him at the ranch he was in shoes year-round. He does get a bit tender on gravel when barefoot. However, now he is mainly on wooded grass pasture so his last set of shoes was last summer. He has strong feet and has never required wedges or special shoes.
His vices are mainly a result of my own shortcomings as his owner this last year. He is herd bound lately, and shows infinitely more strength and calm when he has a buddy nearby. He lacks confidence at times, but consistent work and riding would alleviate that quickly. He loves mares. When he was boarded at my lesson ranch he was harder for me to pull from his lady friend (but he always came for our son). He does not like my current trailer with an 82-inch internal height. But in the past, he has hauled nicely in a more open style stock type trailer of the same height. And I expect he would do well in a taller, warmblood height trailer as well.
Buster has become family. He is playful and strong and wants to please. And at 9y/o he has so much more life to live than I can currently give him. We are ready to help him to find his next match.
Located in the Kalispell/West Valley area.
