This antique sewing table belonged to my grandmother, who was born in 1892. It was not new when she acquired it (in Pennsylvania) as a young adult. They don't make furniture like this anymore, with rounded sides that open, from the top, into compartments for storage. My grandmother used to stash fabric and an occasional knitting project in there. I've used these compartments to hide other things! :-)
Although the table has not been altered in the ~ 80 + years it has been in my family, the base appears to be a different wood from the table with drawers. I don't know if it was originally constructed that way or if something happened that made someone change the base. At any rate, for its age, it is in excellent condition. A very solidly constructed and useful table, whether used for sewing or as a side table. $310 cash.
