Fun little piece of American shopping mall audio nostalgia here. If you grew up in a small town in the late 80s/early 90s, there's a good chance the ONLY place you could go look at audio equipment was at the local Radio Shack, often located in the "big" downtown shopping mall. They definitely serviced the low budget audio enthusiast/hobbyist, but they also put out what have become some cult classics over the years, including the Realistic Mach I and Mach II, and the Minimus line of high fidelity bookshelf speakers such as the Minimus 7. This package represents the partnership of Radio Shack with a ribbon tweeter manufacturer of the era called Linaeum. They are known for their smooth, laid back, but accurate reproduction of sound in the vocals and instrumentation frequencies of music. These tweeters are very warm and somewhat subdued, making them ideal for near-field listening such as desk/office/bedroom set ups. Matched subwoofer rounds out the bottom end nicely. Hardly noticeable nicks and dings here and there but minimal for the age of this system. Woven fiberglass woofer cones on the satellite speakers have supple and intact foam surrounds, but of course there are no guarantees regarding longevity of 40 year old foam.
Local, as-is, cash sales only, not particularly interested in trades but it can't hurt to tell me what you have. Please click on "more ads by this user" to see my other listings, and thanks for looking!
