It is one of many works by the artist of his garden at Giverny over the last thirty years of his life. The painting shows rows of irises in various shades of purple and pink set diagonally across the picture plane. The flowers are under trees, that in allowing dappled light through, change the tone of their colors. Beyond the trees is a glimpse of Monet's house.
Monet worked on and developed the garden that is the subject of the painting from the end of 1883 until his death in 1926. It was essentially a garden of perennials, highlighted by annuals.
*This print has a uniquely painted wooden frame in green, with darker green & black flecks, which blend well with the print colors but of course, can be refinished or reframed to your own taste. The print is on poster board behind glass. The frame is approx. 32" W x 26" H and the print measures 28" W x 22" H. Ready to hang.
